Dresden (dpa/sn) - At the Dresden city festival (19 to 21 August), money is to be collected for the revitalization of the nature reserve in Saxon Switzerland, which was destroyed by fire. Under the motto "Trees instead of firecrackers", the organizers called for a corresponding fundraising campaign, according to a statement on Monday.
The news from this "natural jewel" right outside the gates of Dresden is "shocking", coordinator Frank Schröder explained the commitment. The organizers of the city festival therefore decided to donate the amount for the traditional fireworks at the end of the spectacle called "Canaletto" to the Saxon Switzerland National Park Association. "This means that 5,000 euros are already in the donation pot." Donation boxes will be set up on the three days of celebration.
