Dresden (dpa/sn) - Breakdance against pointe dance: The Dresden Frankfurt Dance Company wants to compete in "Floor on Fire" - a competition of various dance styles - in the Festspielhaus Hellerau at the beginning of March. As the company announced on Thursday, two women and two men from the new ensemble will take part and give a foretaste of the future of the troupe for the first time. In "Floor on fire" the most diverse dance styles meet. Mixed teams spontaneously present their skills. In addition to virtuosity, the art of improvisation is required. In the end, a jury with audience participation decides on the best team. The event in the Festspielhaus Hellerau will take place on March 3rd and 4th.
The Dresden Frankfurt Dance Company emerged from the former Forsythe Company and is supported by the states of Hesse and Saxony as well as the cities of Frankfurt am Main and Dresden. The ensemble is about to undergo a radical change. The Greek choreographer Ioannis Mandafounis will take over as artistic director from the Italian Jacopo Godani at the end of this season.
