Saxony: Dresden volleyball players are subject to favorite Potsdam

Dresden (dpa / sn) - The volleyball players at Dresdner SC started the season with a defeat. After a close game, coach Alexander Waibl's team was beaten by last year's second-placed SC Potsdam 3-1 (22:25, 25:18, 26:28, 22:25). In front of 3000 enthusiastic spectators, the two previous year's semi-finalists fought a close fight at a high level from the start. In the first set, the guests from Potsdam were able to break away thanks to a series of serves by Anastasia Cekulaev and the greater penetrating power in attack.

However, the DSC women fought their way into the game with powerful tasks and managed to equalize 20:20. In the crunch time, however, the runner-up worked a little more steadily. In the second period, the hostesses dictated what was happening from the start with strong service and variable attacking play, and the block was also stable. On the other hand, a few small mistakes crept in at Potsdam.

In the third period, both teams exchanged blows at eye level. The DSC fended off three set balls, but couldn't use one of their own and so a strong block from the guests finally gave Potsdam a 2-1 set lead. The Dresdeners didn't give up, defended themselves until the end, but the opponent's greater penetrating power was the deciding factor in the end. After 115 minutes, the guests converted the first match point with a task from Sarah van Aalen.
