Saxony: Dresdener wins the world championships for automotive mechatronics

Dresden (dpa/sn) - One of the four best automotive mechatronics technicians in the world comes from Dresden. Together with three other competitors, Dresden's Stefan Mißbach was awarded a gold medal at the industry's world championships on Friday evening in Dresden, as the organizers announced on Saturday. Together with him, the Chinese Hsu-Kun Chan, the Swiss Florent Lacilla and the Italian Hannes Egger were named winners of the Worldskills 2022. Representatives of the industry from 24 nations had been competing against each other in the competition since Tuesday.

Among other things, the specialists had to identify and rectify faults in engines or in the body electronics. To do this, they must demonstrate knowledge of mechanical engineering, electrical engineering and computer science, among other things. The last time Germany won a gold medal in the automotive mechatronics discipline was in 1995. The competition took place in the house of the motor vehicle trade in Dresden.
