Saxony: Dresdner SC with sovereign performance against Erfurt

Dresden (dpa / sn) - The volleyball women of Dresdner SC have celebrated their third win in a row in the Bundesliga. Coach Alexander Waibl's team beat Schwarz-Weiß Erfurt 3-0 (25-17, 25-19, 25-15) in front of 2114 spectators in their home arena. For the team led by captain Jennifer Janiska, this was also a successful dress rehearsal for the quarter-finals of the cup against Supercup winner SC Potsdam on Saturday at the same place.

The Dresdeners were very focused from the start. They put the Thuringians under pressure with a tactically clever service game. Setter Sarah Straube, who was later honored as MVP, was able to stage her attackers very variably and the block was also stable. The six-time German champion dictated what happened in all three sets. In the third period alone, the hosts started with a 10-0 lead. Later, Alexander Waibl changed his ranks almost completely. Erfurt fended off three more match points, but Linda Bock ended the game with a determined attack on the fourth attempt. The most successful DSC scorer was national player Monique Strubbe with 15 points.
