Saxony: Dulig: More advertising for the acceptance of foreign skilled workers

Dresden (dpa/sn) - The Saxon Minister for Economic Affairs, Martin Dulig, considers it necessary to promote the acceptance of foreign skilled workers better in many places. It is also a task for employers to influence the workforce accordingly, said the SPD politician to the German Press Agency. "The fact is: We will no longer be able to cover our need for workers and skilled workers on our own. It must therefore be clear that my own job will only be secure in the future because colleagues from other countries will also secure it."

In his own words, Dulig thinks it makes sense to work with countries with which there are already close and historical ties - as in the case of Vietnam. "We should cooperate with countries that have a certain youth surplus or where youth unemployment is particularly high."

It is forbidden to selfishly focus only on one's own labor market goals. "We also have responsibility for developments elsewhere. If people get a good education here, some of them will certainly go back to their home countries later and pass on their experiences. That would be a win-win situation."

In addition to Vietnam, he is also thinking of Egypt, Brazil, Kyrgyzstan and many highly qualified people from Iran, said Dulig. You have no time to lose. "We don't need the tenth study or analysis of what needs to be done now. Our goal is a pact for immigration, with business, science and all socially relevant groups."
