Dresden (dpa / sn) - Saxony elects district administrators and mayors on Sunday. Among other things, the citizens of the state capital Dresden are called upon to appoint a new leader. In total, mayors and mayors are elected in 185 towns and communities. In addition, nine districts decide on a new district administrator. Results are not expected until late evening. There are no elections in the independent cities of Leipzig and Chemnitz.
Polling stations are open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. If no candidate receives more than 50 percent of the votes cast in the first ballot, a second ballot will take place on July 3rd.
