Saxony: End of the water withdrawal ban from Dresden waters

Dresden (dpa/sn) - After more than three months of a ban on water withdrawal, water can again be drawn from streams, rivers and ponds in Dresden. As of Sunday (October 16), the normal legal regulations of the Water Resources Act will apply again, as the city announced on Monday. According to this, water can be taken from natural waters again with hand vessels. In addition, owners of water properties or those bordering water bodies can again draw water for their own needs without a permit under water law. The prerequisite, however, is that this does not significantly reduce the flow of water and that the body of water and the banks are not adversely affected.

At the end of June, the city had banned the withdrawal of water from streams, rivers and ponds due to the persistent drought. Excluded was the Elbe.
