Saxony: Escape Room in medieval castle in Saxony opens

Leisnig (dpa/sn) - In Leisnig in the district of Mittelsachsen, the first escape room in a medieval castle in Saxony will be opened, according to the state-owned Schloesserland company. In escape rooms, teams have to solve tasks within a certain time in order to crack a puzzle. Visitors could go on a treasure hunt through the grounds at Mildenstein Castle from Friday (July 29), said a spokeswoman for the state enterprise.

This ends in the cellar vault of the historic building, where groups have to solve a riddle in 15 minutes to find the "treasure of the one-eyed man". The story refers in part to the historical figure "Wilhelm the One-Eyed", who was Margrave of Meissen in the 14th century. "You learn a lot of historical details," said the spokeswoman.

The Escape Room is therefore part of a new project by the state enterprise to convey museum content in a playful way. An interactive scavenger hunt is also planned for Kriebstein Castle in Kriebstein (Middle Saxony district). The tickets could be bought online.
