Saxony: fireworks smuggled from the Czech Republic

Bärenstein (dpa/sn) - The purchase of fireworks in the Czech Republic has an expensive aftermath for a 29-year-old. Police officers found numerous fireworks in the man's car in Bärenstein (Erzgebirge district). The Federal Police Inspectorate Chemnitz informed on Friday that these are firecrackers that are not approved or require a permit: "The net explosive mass is almost two kilograms." The man is now being investigated for violating the Explosives Act. Not only does he face a fine or penalty; in such cases, transport, storage and destruction of the pyrotechnics would also be charged, it said.
