Saxony: From mid-November: Refugee accommodation at the Dresden trade fair

Dresden (dpa / sn) - Refugees are to be accommodated on the grounds of the Dresden Exhibition Center from mid-November. From November 14, emergency accommodation would be available in specially separated areas of the exhibition halls, city spokesman Kai Schulz told the German Press Agency on request. The accommodations will therefore offer space for up to 550 beds and will remain in operation until January 8th next year.

According to information from Wednesday, only single refugee men from different countries of origin should be accommodated on the exhibition grounds. Because there will not be enough space available in the regular accommodation for the foreseeable future, the city announced in October for the first time that it wanted to use the exhibition center as an interim solution. According to city spokesman Kai Schulz, events can take place as usual.

The exhibition center was already used as an arrival center for war refugees from Ukraine in March. According to the city, around 8,800 refugees from Ukraine have been registered in Dresden since the beginning of the war. About 7,300 people still live in the city.
