Saxony: Frontal collision on Mitteltrasse: Three seriously injured

Lichtentanne (dpa/sn) - In a head-on collision between two cars at the Lichtentanne junction (Zwickau district), four people were injured, three of them seriously. An 80-year-old man drove his car at the junction in the direction of Autobahn 72 on Thursday, came into the oncoming lane and collided with an oncoming vehicle, the Zwickau police said. The engine block of the car was torn out in the collision and the 80-year-old was trapped in the car. The seriously injured man was rescued by firefighters and taken to the hospital. The passengers in the oncoming vehicle were also taken to the hospital with serious injuries. The 32-year-old driver suffered minor injuries.
