Leipzig (dpa / sn) - The new week could start dangerously smooth in Saxony. "Just in time for rush hour" it will start raining from the southwest and west on Monday morning, said a meteorologist from the German Weather Service (DWD) on Sunday in Leipzig. After the recent frosty days, the rain falls on frozen ground. Therefore, widespread formation of black ice is to be expected first in the Vogtland and later in the rest of Saxony. West Saxony will be the focus.
"If you don't have to go out, you should leave it alone," said the meteorologist. Motorists, pedestrians and other road users have to be prepared for very difficult road conditions. The situation will only gradually relax on Monday.
According to the DWD, it was again very cold in Saxony on the night of Sunday. The lowest value was measured at minus 18.7 degrees in Dippoldiswalde south of Dresden. In Plauen in Vogtland, the values dropped to minus 15 degrees. And in the lowlands in Leipzig there was another severe frost with minus 12 degrees.
The wintry weather will be over in the next few days. The meteorologists are predicting clear plus degrees by Christmas. It can also rain again and again.
