Saxony: Greens criticize attempted deportation in Leipzig

Leipzig (dpa/sn) - A week after a major police operation during an attempted deportation in Leipzig, the Greens in the state parliament sharply criticized the actions of the authorities. Migration policy spokeswoman Petra Čagalj Sejdi explained on Monday that the law enforcement authorities' ruthless actions in this case were incomprehensible.

The emergency services had already shown a lack of sensitivity during the operation last Tuesday. From the parliamentary group's point of view, it is "absolutely incomprehensible" that the authorities still wanted to deport the Jordanian. The man needs psychological care and it must be checked whether he can be taken into custody pending deportation at all.

According to the police, the 26-year-old had locked himself in his apartment and injured himself. He was then taken to a hospital for treatment.
