Saxony: Group riots in the east of Leipzig: LKA determined

Leipzig (dpa/sn) - Around 30 people dressed in black rioted in the east of Leipzig. As the State Criminal Police Office (LKA) Saxony announced on Sunday, the group damaged seven parked vehicles and an insurance office on Saturday evening, pyrotechnics were also ignited and so-called metal crow's feet were scattered at an intersection. Crow's feet are spikes that can damage vehicle tires - a police vehicle was damaged as a result. A construction site barrier was also set on fire.

The group is said to have rioted in several streets and shouted "Antifa" several times. The public prosecutor's office in Leipzig and the LKA are now investigating serious breaches of the peace and are looking for witnesses. Because a political motivation for the riots cannot be ruled out, the police counter-terrorism and extremism center of the LKA took over the investigation.
