It should therefore be hottest in central Saxony, in the east of the country in Upper Lusatia temperatures of up to 35 degrees were predicted.

But the people in Saxony are facing the highest temperatures on Wednesday. "The high point in Saxony will be tomorrow," said a DWD meteorologist in Leipzig on Tuesday. Then the weather service expects maximum values ​​between 37 and 39 degrees - according to the first forecasts, it could even get hot up to 40 degrees in the Leipzig area. That would be a record for Saxony, said the meteorologist.

Because of the persistent drought and heat, the DWD continued to warn of forest fires. In the district of Nordsachsen and in parts of Meißen, Bautzen and Görlitz, the highest danger level 5 applied on Tuesday.
