Chemnitz (dpa/sn) - Three heavy transports with wind turbine blades have been blocking the Chemnitz-Mitte junction of Autobahn 4 Dresden-Erfurt since early Monday morning. The curve radius of the descent was too small, said the Chemnitz police. To continue the journey, structural changes would have to be made at short notice and crash barriers removed, said a spokesman. The authority expects that the exit will remain closed until at least 10 p.m. According to the police, the background is the expansion of the Saidenberg wind farm in the Ore Mountains. By the end of July, there could be traffic restrictions in Chemnitz and the Marienberg area, especially on federal roads 101 and 174, due to the transport of the 90-meter-long wings.
