Saxony: Hoch Jürgen brings high summer temperatures to Saxony

Leipzig (dpa / sn) - The people of Saxony can expect a hot week. The high Jürgen is responsible for the sharp rise in temperatures, as a spokesman for the German Weather Service (DWD) said. The week starts with lots of sunshine and temperatures up to 31 degrees Celsius. During the night it cools down to a low of 10 degrees, with a light wind blowing.

According to the spokesman, a heat warning is not unlikely for Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. On Tuesday it should be sunny and dry in Bavaria with up to 37 degrees. During the night it stays slightly windy and temperatures drop to 11 degrees. According to the DWD forecast, the hottest day of this week will probably be Wednesday with up to 38 degrees. According to the spokesman for the German Weather Service, up to 40 degrees can be expected locally.

On the night of Thursday, an emerging cold front causes showers, thunderstorms and a cooling down to a minimum of 16 degrees. Changeable weather with up to 31 degrees brings Thursday with it. According to the DWD, the wind will partly freshen up, but it will remain largely dry.

In the night to Friday it cools down to 11 degrees in Saxony. On Friday the temperatures will level off at values between 25 and 30 degrees.

Due to the persistent drought, there is currently a risk of forest fires in Saxony, as the German weather service announced.
