Saxony: Horn by boat: Gewandhaus Orchestra plays on waterways

Leipzig (dpa/sn) - The Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra presented itself on a boat along the city's waterways on Saturday. After the opening at the Klingerweg boat rental, the eight-strong ensemble continued to the next venue at the disc wood racetrack. Then concerts were planned at the Sachsenbrücke, the weir at the Palmengarten and the Könneritzbrücke.

The horn players were accompanied by a guest boat. The tickets for this were raffled in advance. "But we hope that we will reach many more people with our music on our trip," said Dirk Steiner from the Gewandhaus. Among others, Giovanni Gabrieli's "Canzon Per Sonar Primi Toni" as well as songs by Engelbert Humperdink and Paul Dukas could be heard.
