Leipzig (dpa/sn) - After the fatal accident of a 17-year-old when using pyrotechnics in the Leipzig district on New Year's Eve, the police investigation is ongoing. It is also about what kind of pyrotechnics the youngster used and where he got them from, said a police spokesman on Monday when asked.
The 17-year-old had put pyrotechnics that were probably not approved in a pipe in a field in Otterwisch. When it didn't ignite, the teenager checked it out. At that moment the explosive device detonated. The seriously injured boy was taken to a Leipzig hospital, where he died a little later.
