As the Dresden police department announced on Thursday, it is a 26-year-old man. On Wednesday, he handled two weapons at the window of an apartment in Dresden's Hechtviertel, triggering the large-scale operation.
The criminalists assume that he later set fire to various parts of the apartment. The lifeless man was recovered by firefighters. The weapons - a blank pistol and an airsoft gun in the form of a submachine gun - were secured, it said. The motive for his action is still unclear. An autopsy of the body is now to clarify the cause of death.
