Leipzig (dpa / sn) - Several machines and switch boxes have been blown up in and around Leipzig. As the police announced on Tuesday, unknown persons blew up a cigarette vending machine in Torgau (Northern Saxony district) on Monday night using pyrotechnics. However, the perpetrators did not get to the contents, the material damage incurred amounts to around 15,000 euros.

On the same night, unknown persons blew up two control boxes on Prager Strasse in Leipzig. According to the information, the control units of a mobile traffic light system were damaged. The property damage is in the mid five-digit range.

Two ticket machines at different locations in Leipzig were also blown up on Tuesday night. Both machines were completely destroyed. In one case, the perpetrators did not get to the contents, but this resulted in property damage of around 25,000 euros. The perpetrators stole a cash box from the other machine that was blown up. The damage to property and theft is unknown.

In all cases, the police have opened investigations into causing an explosive explosion.
