"We intend to introduce a "constitutional loyalty check" before being hired by the police and prison service," said Interior Minister Armin Schuster (CDU) in Dresden on Wednesday. For those who are already in government service, legal adjustments are required. This includes an extension of the statute of limitations in disciplinary proceedings, which are about loyalty to the constitution or the rule of moderation, said Schuster. In this way, longer periods of time could be considered and taken into account in order to be able to act more consistently against extremists in the public sector. "There is no place in the civil service for enemies of the constitution." The Minister of the Interior and Justice Minister Katja Meier (Greens) made proposals on Tuesday at the conference of department heads in Munich.
