Saxony: Minor impact of the Eurowings strike in airports

Leipzig/Dresden (dpa/sn) - The strike at the airline Eurowings on Thursday had hardly any effect at the Saxon airports of Leipzig/Halle and Dresden. As airport spokesman Uwe Schuhart said, only one connection from Düsseldorf to Dresden and back was canceled. The three other connections - Düsseldorf - Dresden, Mallorca - Leipzig/Halle and Mallorca - Dresden - should be served as planned.

Nationwide, Eurowings expected that around half of all flights would be cancelled. On average, Eurowings offers around 500 flights a day. The union Vereinigung Cockpit had called for a walkout at the Lufthansa subsidiary after negotiations on a collective agreement had failed.
