Saxony: More apprenticeship contracts in East Saxon crafts

Dresden (dpa / sn) - The East Saxon trade sees a positive trend on the training market. According to the Dresden Chamber of Crafts on Monday, 1451 contracts were already sealed at the beginning of the new apprenticeship year - around 3.3 percent more than in 2021. At that time, 1405 young people already had an apprenticeship position in their pockets.

Deputy General Manager Manuela Salewski sees it as a sign "that the craft businesses are relying on training to secure their need for skilled workers". Nevertheless, this is a snapshot. "It will not be until the end of the year that we will be able to assess exactly how great the effects of the energy and raw materials crisis and the ongoing corona pandemic will be on the training market."

According to the information provided, most of the contracts were concluded in the field of motor vehicle mechatronics technicians, electronics technicians and plant mechanics for sanitary, heating and air-conditioning technology. According to the chamber, around 80 trades can be learned in handicraft businesses in East Saxony.
