Drivers in Saxony are increasingly involved in illegal races. They race down public roads at excessive speed - without considering other road users.
Dresden (dpa/sn) - The number of cases recorded due to banned motor vehicle races has risen again in Saxony. This year, 278 cases were registered by the end of November, as the Saxon State Criminal Police Office announced on request. In the entire previous year there were 271 and in 2020 only 201 cases.
By mid-November, the Saxon public prosecutor's office had received preliminary investigations against a total of 185 suspects on charges of illegal motor vehicle racing. The proceedings had been brought to court against 51 suspects, as the Dresden Public Prosecutor announced on request.
To date, thirteen of these proceedings have been concluded as legally binding through a conviction. The accused were each sentenced to fines of between 30 and 150 daily rates or measures under the Juvenile Courts Act. In addition, the driver's license was revoked in ten cases and a driving ban was imposed in one case.
