Saxony: Olbernhau: Great mining parade at the end of the miners' day

Olbernhau (dpa/sn) - The Saxon Miners' Day in Olbernhau ends on Sunday with a large mining parade and a concert with 16 orchestras. According to the organizers, 15 bands and 73 clubs are taking part in the parade - a total of around 1,700 people in traditional habit.

The mountain parades are part of the intangible cultural heritage, especially in the Advent season they attract tens of thousands of onlookers in the Ore Mountains. The miners', smelters' and miners' day is held at a different location every five years. It is considered an important meeting of the traditional clubs, to which guests from other federal states also come. The city had expected up to 30,000 visitors this weekend.
