Saxony: Police want to increase control on Ascension Day

Saxony (dpa/sn) - With increased controls, the Saxon police want to ensure a non-violent Father's Day on Ascension Day. Operational measures are being prepared by the police departments throughout the Free State, the state police said at the request of the German Press Agency. Particular attention is therefore paid to places and regions where there have been conflicts in recent years. The police called the banks of the Elbe in Dresden Saxon Switzerland, but also other popular destinations throughout the country.

The police advised not to be provoked and to plan the trips during the day, since alcohol-related incidents would increase in the evening hours. In the event of an incident, the emergency number of the police should be dialled.

The German Weather Service (DWD) expected a lot of clouds and only a little sun on Thursday. A little rain is possible locally. The temperatures should reach 18 to 22 degrees and in the mountains 14 to 17 degrees. Last year, continuous rain and cool temperatures had significantly dampened the mood for celebrating Ascension Day. The police registered fewer operations than in previous years.
