A report from "Sächsische.de" about his candidacy was confirmed by the office of the President of the State Parliament on Wednesday on request. It was said that he was available as a direct candidate for the Union in his home constituency of Meissen. Rößler has been a member of the state parliament since its re-establishment in 1990 and was later Minister of Education and Minister of Science and Art in the Saxon governments. He has been President of the State Parliament since 2009 and has been confirmed in office twice since then. Rößler would be 69 years old for the state election.
