Saxony: protests in front of the Dresden state parliament against "educational emergency"

Dresden (dpa / sn) - Around 700 people demonstrated in front of the Saxon state parliament for better conditions for care in daycare centers and schools in the Free State. With balloons, whistles and banners, many educators and teachers also demonstrated on Wednesday afternoon against the "educational emergency". They made their positions known with slogans such as "Kita come in burn out", "Teacher shortage = lack of education" or "Only stupidity is in vain".

Teachers' associations and unions have called for a rally. They see the education system "on the verge of collapse" and immediately demand more human resources and relief measures for employees in schools and daycare centers.

"We have never experienced a school year in which the shortage of staff at the educational institutions was so great right from the start," said GEW boss Uschi Kruse. The government's draft budget does not provide for any improvements to daycare centers, it means another massive shortage of staff for the schools.
