Saxony: Real sales declines in the Saxon economy

Kamenz (dpa/sn) - Energy crisis, supply chain problems and rising prices are clouding the economy in Saxony. Most sectors of the economy had to post price-adjusted sales slumps in the first half of the year, the State Statistical Office announced on Wednesday in Kamenz. The real revenues of Saxon industry fell by almost two percent from January to June. In Germany, on the other hand, a plus of one percent was achieved in real terms.

The decline was mainly influenced by the development of foreign sales, which fell by more than eight percent in real terms (Germany: plus one percent), it said. According to the statisticians, the real sales slump in the metal industry was particularly large with a minus of 24 percent. In the hospitality industry, on the other hand, real sales in the first half of the year almost doubled compared to the same period last year. However, according to the information, the real revenues are still almost 19 percent below the Corona pre-crisis level of 2019.
