Reichenbach (dpa/sn) - Reichenbach in Upper Lusatia wants to better prevent crime in the city and thus strengthen the feeling of security among the citizens. The city, police and state prevention council signed a cooperation agreement for the "Alliance for Safe Saxon Municipalities" (AssKomm), as the Ministry of the Interior announced on Wednesday. "Together we are strengthening the security structure in our border region," said Interior Minister Armin Schuster (CDU).

At the beginning of 2023, a municipal prevention council is to be founded in the Reichenbach administrative community. Among other things, new, scientific aspects of urban crime prevention, especially in the area of ​​the station area, are to be incorporated into the work of the municipal administration. Closer cooperation with the federal police and the local police station is also planned.

According to the Ministry of the Interior, the "Alliance for Safe Saxon Municipalities" was founded in early 2019. In the meantime, a municipal prevention council has been introduced in 28 towns and communities.
