Saxony: Replacement funds will offer transitional care in the future

Dresden (dpa/sn) - After an inpatient stay in hospital, patients in Saxony should be able to take advantage of transitional care in the future. The replacement funds and the hospital company have agreed on this, as the Association of Replacement Funds announced on Tuesday in Dresden. The service should therefore be able to be claimed if care at home or short-term care after the hospital stay cannot be guaranteed.

Patients would then be cared for and treated in the clinic for up to ten days. This includes, among other things, the supply of medicines, remedies and aids as well as discharge management, it said. The agreement comes into effect on January 1, 2023.

The Association of Substitute Funds represents the interests of health insurance companies. Together they number around 28 million insured persons in Germany, 769,000 of whom are from Saxony.
