Saxony: resistance to lateral thinkers: medical students donate money

Dresden (dpa/sn) - At the beginning of the year, future doctors protectively stood in front of the Dresden University Clinic at a demonstration by corona deniers and critics of the state measures and should therefore be prosecuted. The donations then collected during an online campaign for possible fines are now intended to fulfill last wishes and help refugees.

Half, a good 11,000 euros, was handed over to the Arbeiter-Samariter-Bund (ASB) for the "Wünschewagen" project on Thursday, as a clinic spokesman said. The other half goes to the Dresden association Mission Lifeline, which is also active in the sea rescue of refugees, for its work in the Ukraine.

The "Wünschwagen" stationed in Leipzig, an ambulance with special equipment, has been on the road in Bavaria since 2016 to fulfill a last wish for the seriously ill and dying. He takes people to the sea, to family celebrations or back to their place of birth. The project is financed with the help of donations and sponsors.

In the aftermath of the demonstration on January 13, when hundreds stood protectively in front of "their" clinic, 22 medical students were also targeted by the authorities for violating the Corona Emergency Ordinance at the time. According to the clinic spokesman, the response to the precautionary online fundraising campaign for her exceeded the required sum within a few hours - which was then not used at all because the proceedings were stopped after the circumstances had been dealt with.
