Saxony: Rößler honors six people with a constitutional medal

Dresden (dpa / sn) - Two women and four men were awarded the Constitutional Medal of the Free State on Saturday. "From sustainable nature conservation to cultural church music, social projects to the mill trade - all honored personalities realize the values of our constitution in an impressive way," said the Saxon State Parliament President Matthias Rößler (CDU) at the award ceremony in the Estates House in Dresden.

The constitution medal is awarded every year to people who have made a special contribution to the development of Saxony. Alongside the Saxon Order of Merit, it is the most important state award in the state. The front of the silver medal bears the Saxon coat of arms and the inscription "Saxon Constitution - May 26, 1992 - For special merits". On the back, five burning candles and the phrase "We are the people" are reminiscent of the peaceful revolution. So far, including those honored on Saturday, 182 women and men have received the medal.
