Saxony: Saxon companies are looking at the Romanian market

Dresden (dpa / sn) - Saxony wants to expand economic relations with Romania. The Saxony Economic Development Agency (WFS) announced on Thursday that companies should be supported in opening up new markets with a business trip. Visits to companies and research institutes in Cluj-Napoca and Bucharest are planned from August 30th to September 2nd. In addition, cooperation talks are planned, it said.

"Markets, goods and investment flows have changed in recent years - aggravated by the corona pandemic and the Russian attack on Ukraine," says WFS Managing Director Thomas Horn. Against this background, companies reviewed their locations and supply chains and sought to open up new markets. Romania is interesting, among other things, because of its geographical proximity.

Until the end of the year, companies can get advice from the WFS and the German-Romanian Chamber of Industry and Commerce and establish contacts with business and cooperation partners in Romania. According to the information, there is potential for Saxon companies in mechanical and plant engineering, robotic solutions and environmental and energy technology.

According to the WFS, Saxon goods worth 395.4 million euros were exported to Romania in 2021. This puts Romania in 26th place in Saxony's country ranking for exports.
