Saxony: Saxon company Komsa positions itself internationally

Hartmannsdorf (dpa/sn) - The Saxon technology dealer Komsa wants to grow beyond the German state borders. "Our perspective is international, so we want to expand to the UK, Ireland and France," said Komsa boss Pierre-Pascal Urbon of the German Press Agency. At the beginning of next year, the company will therefore merge with the British IT service provider Westcoast. A few hours after signing the contract, Urbon was delighted: "We're as proud as Bolle that it worked out like this."

The merger of Komsa and Westcoast is not only the next logical step for the company, which is based in Hartmannsdorf near Chemnitz in central Saxony, but also a perfect complement: "We bring in our expertise in the field of telecommunications, Westcoast in IT." Even after the expansion, the company will remain in Saxony: "The expertise that we have built up here over the past 30 years makes us valuable," said the company's chairman.

Komsa has around 1200 employees and is one of the largest family businesses in the eastern German states. According to Urbon, the company has achieved record sales in the past two financial years, also thanks to the boom in home office and home schooling during the corona pandemic. The figures for the 2021/22 financial year were 1.4 billion euros, compared to around 1.3 billion euros in the previous year. The company generated around 90 percent of this in Germany.
