Saxony: Saxony invests millions in young academics

Dresden (dpa/sn) - In the next few years, the Free State will invest 132 million euros from EU and state funds in the promotion of young academics. This is intended to promote university degrees by 2027 and limit the shortage of skilled workers in science, as the Ministry of Science in Dresden announced on Friday. Projects for academic success, junior research groups and doctorates are funded. The focus is increasingly on women, who are still underrepresented in scientific positions.

The new program offers "good perspectives for a scientific career," said Science Minister Sebastian Gemkow (CDU). The vast majority of those who take part in such qualifying measures would also like to stay in Saxony.
