Dresden (dpa / sn) - Saxony's government is considering a hardship fund because of the rise in energy prices. Prime Minister Michael Kretschmer and Economics Minister Martin Dulig indicated this during a debate on Tuesday evening in Dresden. They want to talk about it at the first cabinet meeting after the summer break. Dulig called a hardship fund useful. Lower Saxony had already announced such a fund. This is also being discussed in other countries. The funds are intended to relieve consumers.
Dulig announced an energy summit for the Free State and suggested capping a basic energy requirement in terms of price. "It must be possible to provide basic services with basic consumption for people at a reasonable, socially acceptable price," said the minister. Market prices could then apply for additional requirements. You have to support in Germany "on a large scale". The pandemic has already shown that. "We now face a much, much bigger challenge." Saxony also has to do more.
