Chemnitz (dpa/sn) - The Federal Employment Agency announced the new labor market figures for Saxony on Thursday (10 a.m.). Most recently, despite the war in Ukraine and its aftermath, employment had risen and there were tens of thousands of vacancies. At the same time, the unemployment rate fell to 5.2 percent - the lowest level so far in May. A total of around 110,100 people in Bavaria were registered as unemployed last month. A year ago the number was almost 15 percent higher.
However, the regional directorate in Chemnitz initially expected a higher number of unemployed again in June. The background is a system change: since June 1, the job centers have been responsible for the services of the Ukraine refugees. It was therefore expected that many of them would register as unemployed.
