Leipzig (dpa/sn) - Saxony's carnivalists start the fifth season on Friday at 11.11 a.m. In numerous cities, the fools want to have the keys to the town halls handed over to them. Most recently, the carnivalists had to do without big celebrations and parades because of the corona pandemic.
In Leipzig, the identity of the lioness Leila as the head of the carnival is first announced, and she then receives the keys to the town hall. The storming of the town hall in Dresden is also planned for 11.11 a.m. Visitors can look forward to skits, guard dancing, a bouncy castle and free beer in front of the Golden Gate. The carnival season also starts at the traditional time in Chemnitz and the carnival stronghold of Radebeul.
