Saxony: Saxony's labor courts rely on e-files across the board

Zwickau (dpa/sn) - Saxony's labor courts are now working across the board with electronic files. After the courts in Leipzig, Bautzen, Dresden and Chemnitz as well as the state labor court, the e-file was also started on Monday at the Zwickau site - the last remaining labor court. Justice Minister Katja Meier (Greens) spoke of an important milestone in one of the largest transformation processes in the judiciary. In addition to switching from paper to digital files, this also includes equipping workstations and courtrooms with the appropriate devices.

The previous digitization has already accelerated communication with lawyers, for example, stated the President of the State Labor Court, Eberhard Kirst. He hopes for further positive effects in the future - also because judges can work in a location-independent way. The use of e-files and the digital equipment of the courtrooms are also changing the course of negotiations. Image-sound transmission is being promoted so that lawyers, for example, do not have to travel from far away for short negotiations. Speech recognition devices also offer new possibilities, so that judges can dictate their judgments directly.

Sometimes the paper files in the judiciary are so thick that they have to be held together with a belt - lawyers then jokingly refer to an "armadillo". It will be some time before these mountains of paper are a thing of the past in the other branches of the judiciary as well. This should only be the case across the board in all courts in the Free State from January 1, 2026.
