Saxony: Saxony's tourism companies are welcoming more guests again

Dresden (dpa/sn) - The tourism industry in Saxony is counting more guests again after two years of a pandemic-related lull. Around 5.9 million people visited the Free State by October of this year, the state tourism association announced on Wednesday. This is an increase of 57 percent compared to the same period last year. Nevertheless, the numbers are 17.3 percent below those of 2019 - the last year before the pandemic.

According to Markert, the crises have left deep scars and exacerbated problems in the industry, such as the shortage of skilled workers. In the coming year, not only will the skilled worker situation and digitization have to be addressed, but companies will also have to be supported in quality development.
