Saxony: Saxony wants to promote ideas: creative workshops in the country

Dresden (dpa/sn) - The state of Saxony wants to promote creative workshops in the country in which craftsmen, artists and researchers can work together. A total of 584,374 euros will be invested in three projects by Saxon associations in the future, as the Ministry for Regional Development announced on Monday. The so-called "maker spaces" are equipped rooms with tools and devices in which people can implement creative ideas.

The clubs have developed various approaches to draw attention to such workshops. A Chemnitz initiative wants to organize small festivals for families, where visitors can try out techniques such as screen printing.

"The linking of practical skills and craftsmanship traditions with creative inventiveness and digital applications has great potential for regional development," said Minister of State Thomas Schmidt (CDU) on Monday according to the announcement. The projects are to be funded until the end of next year.
