Dresden (dpa / sn) - After a series of arson attacks in the Saxon Switzerland-Eastern Ore Mountains district, the public prosecutor's office has brought charges against a 32-year-old. The man is accused of arson in three cases and attempted serious arson in three other cases, as the prosecution announced on Friday in Dresden.
Between 2018 and 2022, the 32-year-old is said to have started several fires in Pirna and Heidenau, causing damage of almost 170,000 euros. No one was injured because the fire brigade was able to extinguish the fire in good time and prevent the flames from spreading to residential or office buildings.
According to the public prosecutor, the accused was under the influence of alcohol during the crime. He has been in custody since the beginning of February and has not yet admitted to the allegations. The Dresden Regional Court must now decide whether to admit the charges.
