Saxony: Shostakovich days satisfied with 70 percent occupancy

Gohrisch (dpa/sn) - About 70 percent of the tickets for the concerts of the International Shostakovich Days in Gohrisch (Saxon Switzerland) have been sold this year. In view of the general reluctance of the public, the organizers are extremely satisfied with this, said the artistic director Tobiasprecipitate on Sunday. Almost 3000 tickets were sold. One is convinced that in the coming years it will be possible to achieve occupancy rates of more than 90 percent again.

The festival in honor of the Soviet composer Dmitri Shostakovich (1906-1975) ended on Sunday. "We experienced an artistically outstanding vintage," explained precipitation.

Shostakovich was twice a guest in Gohrisch in a guest house of the GDR government. In July 1960 he composed his 8th string quartet there. It is considered a musical reckoning with Stalin.
