Dresden (dpa/sn) - Since the beginning of the current flu season in October, 1639 infections have been registered in Saxony by the end of last week. According to the latest weekly report published by the State Research Institute on Friday, the activity of acute respiratory diseases has increased significantly and is above the comparative values ​​of the years before the corona pandemic. The reason for this is the simultaneous circulation of different viruses, with influenza and RSV viruses dominating.

With 786, almost half of all cases were added in the past week, which means that the number of proofs provided increased by 179 percent compared to the previous week. There were also two major outbreaks: in a primary school, where four children and a teacher fell ill, and in a retirement home with 24 people affected. A good quarter of all patients were between 25 and 49 years old. So far 137 patients have been treated at the hospital.
