Leipzig (dpa/sn) - After a call for a warning strike in Leipzig, there could be significant restrictions in public life on Friday. According to the Verdi union, around 2,000 public sector employees are expected to take part. The city's day-care centers and after-school care centers, the city administration, the savings bank, the employment agency and the city cleaning department are among those affected. The transport companies are also expected to experience disruptions in scheduled services.
According to Verdi, the strikers will meet at around 9 a.m. for a rally on Wilhelm-Leuschner-Platz. A demonstration will start at 10:30 a.m. The union is demanding higher wages for public sector employees - at least 500 euros per month.
