Borna (dpa / sn) - A spokeswoman for the "Ende Gelände" action alliance has been fined for a protest in the "Vereinigte Schleenhain" opencast mine. The district court of Borna imposed a penalty of 15 daily rates of 23 euros each for trespassing, as a court spokesman announced. The judgment is not final. The alliance spokeswoman announced that she wanted to appeal. The verdict shows how important the actions of "Ende Gelände" are. Climate protection is not a crime.

"Ende Gelände" had blocked the opencast mine in 2019. The activists then left the coal mine voluntarily. The open pit operator Mibrag filed a complaint. The left-wing member of the state parliament, Juliane Nagel, was also fined in connection with the protest. She also appealed.
