Saxony: State Chancellery criticizes the procedure for the energy package

Berlin/Dresden (dpa/sn) - The Saxon State Chancellery has complained about the federal government's energy package. The Free State did not agree with him on Friday in the Bundesrat, at least in terms of wind energy, and added a memo, as the State Chancellery announced. "The energy package is a very important piece of legislation given the current situation in Germany," said Head of State Oliver Schenk (CDU) on the sidelines of the meeting. One would have expected that the federal government would also discuss the procedure intensively with the federal states. After all, it is about key decisions for the functioning of the economy.

Schenk assumed that better decisions would have been possible if the consultation had been longer. He cited the future use of domestic energy sources such as lignite and nuclear power as an example. "We have functioning nuclear power plants. This issue has not been properly discussed." It is also about the question of how to deal with compromises found in society on site. "Keyword 1000-meter distance rule: A process that we have carried out very intensively, very laboriously with the population in Saxony. And now an announcement is coming from Berlin-Mitte: If you can't do this and that, then we will terminate it Compromise at your place. It's not good form." That brings discord. Therefore, one does not agree with the procedure in the matter.

Schenk considers the goal of making two percent of the state area available for wind turbines to be very ambitious. "We all have to make an effort. We all know that we need more speed when it comes to renewable energies. But you can only get things done together with the population. You need approval, acceptance on the spot."
